Tintin Books

Tintin is such a cool guy that we’ve made a special effort to have a deep selection of Tintin books in store. You can find them all at this link. Here are some interesting facts about Tintin:
1. The Tinitin books were written and drawn over a period of 54 years by Hergé, the pen name of a gentleman called George Remi.
2. During this time Tintin hardly aged, starting off as a young teenager (around 14) and growing up only a few unnoticeable years during that period.
3. And that makes it all kinda weird, because Tintin has no mum or dad or anyone looking after him, yet he’s a keen shot, can throw a knockout punch, is great on a motorcycle, can fly helicopters and airplanes, has been into space and has some very cool friends, including a dog called Snowy.
6. Tintin's creator Hergé is derived from George Remi's initials pronounced backwards in French (RG!). Here is a picture of the famous man (courtesy of Getty images).
4. Snowy is a wire fox terrier, these dogs were developed in England by fox hunting enthusiasts. In this sense developed means they were selectively bred and call some now extinct working terriers from Wales as their ancestors. One of their key skills was to chase fox back into their burrows. Their short, strong and usually docked tails were then used to pull them out!
5. Tintin's friends include an alcoholic Captain Haddock, a hard of hearing scientist and inventor Professor Calculus and a pair of identical policemen, Thompson and Thomson. These last two aren’t actually twins; check the spelling of their names. Yes I have it right, but have you ever noticed.
6. Tintin's creator Hergé is derived from George Remi's initials pronounced backwards in French (RG!). Here is a picture of the famous man (courtesy of Getty images). See the likeness in some of these Tintin characters in the pictures below. Yes Hergé played cameo roles in many of his own productions too.

7. Tintin has recently been made into a 3D animated movie directed by Steven Spielberg. Unbelievably this is the first animated movie Steven has made, so far.
8. Tintins books are translated into more than 100 dfferent languages and have sold many millions of copies. Interestingly the Germans call him Tim, in Turkish he is Tenten and unbelievably in Latin he is Titinus.
Et tu Titinus! You are a cool guy.
